READING STRATEGIES

In order to help you save time, before you start looking up every word in the dictionary, there are faster strategies you can use.
When you read it is important that your really make an effort to understand the idea of your sentence.  It is not necessary to translate every single word, one by one.  This takes too much time and effort.

Here a few strategies you can use to help you understand the text.  Go in order.  Use the first strategy, if it does not work, move to the next one.

1- Read the French word as if it is in English.

2- Look at the pictures in the book.

3- Look for a small word in the big word.      ex:  grandement

4- Read the whole sentence and see if you can understand the idea of the sentence.

5- Look up the word in the dictionary.

6- Ask your teacher for help : )
